Painting and Printmaking Guanajuato, Mexico April 15 – 23, 2020 (cancelled because of pandemic)
Experience slow art – ways to create space and time in our high-speed world to savor the pleasures of pigment, paper, brush and our own imaginations. Expand your creative horizons with watercolor painting projects with artist and author, Dory Kanter, and printmaking projects with master artist and teacher, Hugo Anaya, in picturesque Guanajuato. Founded in 1559, Guanajuato is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Diego Rivera; it is well-known for its inviting plazas, cafés, restaurants, museums, galleries and architecture from a rich past and vibrant present. Your home for eight nights is one of two warm and charming boutique B&B's located across the street from each other in the heart of town – Alma del Sol B&B and Ponciano Boutique Hotel. Enjoy the camaraderie of a small group – just ten workshop participants – and new friendships with like-minded travelers. And take home watercolor paintings and monoprints filled with treasured memories of your creative Mexican adventure. Born and raised in Guanajuato, printmaker Hugo Anaya is an inspiring artist. He studied printmaking at the University of Guanajuato and while living and working in Portland, Oregon for 18 years. He has shown his work at numerous exhibitions in Mexico and the U.S. His instruction style is relaxed and fun; prior printing experience is not required. Join us in Guanajuato!
